21 Genetic Markers for Higher Accuracy
We analyse 21 genetic markers which include the same 13 markers used by the FBI and other law enforcement agencies for human identity DNA testing. These 13 genetic markers are known as the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) and are used only in determining human identity. These markers do not reveal any other genetic information about the person being tested and cannot be used to determine predisposition to illnesses or diseases. You can have complete peace of mind knowing that your DNA results can only be used for establishing family relationships.
PCR: Polymerase Reaction
This DNA testing technology uses a technique known as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) which replaced the previous restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) method. PCR is quicker and more accurate and can be performed using very small samples of DNA. This is one of the reasons why blood samples are no longer needed when carrying out human identity DNA tests.
